LawrenceMinute0097: Thunderball fists
This is the output of a patch i'm in the process of designing. The beats are stock.

Easter Minute
LawrenceMinute0096: Easter Minute
Thanks to Jeff i am now again able to record my bass guitar. All it took was one lousy cable. Anyway the last minute that i posted that features some real bass lines is from May 2nd of last year. Skip the first minute or so and it's pretty decent. I remember being all stoked about that opening bass line but listening back to it now i can't imagine why. The rest of it i kinda like though.
Anyway here i am almost a year later with yet another faulty minute.

The quease
LawrenceMinute0095: The quease
Yesterday night i have been partaking in some rudementary sampling. I have seperately recorded at two velocities all keys of a little thumb piano that was lying around. By loading the samples into a sampler and cross fading between the low and the high velocity samples on every note i made a crude digital version of the thumb piano. The cool thing is that once you've got this all set up, you can start experimenting with playback parameters and really sculpt the sounds. Here's a minute expose of my digital sample-based thumb piano. The queasiness readings for this one are through the roof! Protip: use some of this!

d#rums / b'4CE

Well, the obvious answer to the question of what this needs is of course:

Anyway, when i heard this i thought that those awesome d#rums were yearning for some smooth action in the lower regions. That's why i added this lamenting bass part. It came to me by reverse time capsule from a forlorn future. Hopefully you'll like it.

This shit ain't done yet though. At least to me it feels like it could use a finishing touch. It needs something else! Anyone have any guud ideas?
This is just a drumtrack I made today. Not sure how to continue. If one of you guys has an opinion on what this needs...

'cha!
Iwan & Jeff: 'CHA!
Iwan & I've been hanging out pretty much all weekend so far, making cool tunes in the day and going to strp at night. Threw this loop together last night, sounds kinda brazilian or something don't it?

The precipice
LawrenceMinute0092:
LawrenceMinute0093:
A quick post before i head off to the strp-festival in Eindhoven for the weekend. These minutes here are the product of an anxiousness and edginess that has really been bothering me this week and as such i suppose they are not too pleasant sounding. Gotta keep on trucking though.

Dr. Frankenstein's failed experiment
LawrenceMinute0091: Dr. Frankenstein's failed experiment
Standing in your damp and dark laboratory with a malicious grin upon your face. Before you lies the fruit of your long arduous labor. The conditions are good. Time to crank up the amperage. As vast amounts of current are surging through that make-shift lifeless body you turn the dial even higher. For a moment the body is thrown into convulsions but no herr doktor, it was not meant to be. Life is not to be tampered with. It will not reveal its precious secret to you. This experiment shall not succeed. Back to the drawing board for you.

Who stole my gherkin y'all?
LawrenceMinute0090: Turkish gherkins
A minute in the same style as my earlier "Something familiar..." The thumping bass alternating between root and fifth, the minor chord on the offbeats and the chromatic lines are indeed something familiar. Not quite satisfied with it but i'm done nonetheless.

The bog
LawrenceMinute0089: The bog
A mist is draped over the festering bog so thick you can cut it. From within it emerges an ancient plantlike creature slowly plodding its way through the mire. Paying us no heed, it passes us and disappears again within the fog.

In the mouth of madness
LawrenceMinute0088: Bending forks
I made this after a dream i had. I'm standing in a room that resembles the living room of my apartment - but it's not. Something doesn't feel right, it feels phony somehow. Remember that awesome scene in Labyrinth where our beautiful protagonist thinks she has safely returned to her bedroom? As it turns out she is standing in a junkyard facsimile of it. That's exactly the kind of vibe i'm extracting from my surroundings. This is no safe haven, this must be some diabolical recreation built with the intent of tricking me. I'm not at home, i'm standing in the mouth of madness. So all the while I'm inexplicably drawn to the kitchen. It's the silverware drawer specifically, beckoning me to open it. I approach it and slowly proceed to pull it towards me. Only then do i notice that... * gasp* ...all the forks... are twisted and bent out of shape!
Oh, the horror... the horror...

All Blues
LawrenceMinute0084: All Blues
I tried to make an arrangement for the theme from All Blues by Miles Davis. Here's an amazing televised recording of that if you wish to check out the magician himself with his all-star band. Now that shit is just plain mind boggling.

A real stinker
LawrenceMinute0083: A real stinker
Here's a minute far more deserving of the title "random shit". The redeeming factor for me would be that some parts i kinda find interesting but as a composition it utterly fails. Anyway i have been working on this off and on in short intervals these past few days and well, i'm done with it. A real stinker.

Tanzanian Lullaby
LawrenceMinute0082: Tanzanian Lullaby
Another week at the minute music blog is coming to a close. The submissions this week have been thoroughly excellent. Flutes from Peru, bone chilling audio books, intriguing bass drum tunings, a taste of paradise, a runaway train and some beautiful sung words on alienated love; what haven't we heard? Minutes, it seems, are miraculously falling from the sky like manna. Anyway last week the honor was Azo's but this week's official closing statement will be mine - flute 'n all. Rest well everyone.

A minute for my dad
LawrenceMinute0081: MinuteDad
Today's my father's birthday so i dedicate this one to him. It's a slow and melacholy arrangement of the theme from Song For My Father by Horace Silver.

The Return of Amorphati!
LawrenceMinute0080: Return of Amorphati
And thus endeth my tribute to the return of the enigmatic Amorphati! Man, i'm really excited you've decided to contribute! Those two minutes Jeff posted are wicked fresh. I'm actually amazed and frightened by how fantastic they sound. I'm looking forward to hearing more!
Father has been studying the darkened clouds forming over the outlands for some time now. His son is standing next to him as he silently examines the skys. Something was off, he noticed it at first glance. His initial unease has been growing into restrained fear. His nerves are telling him something is coming, coming from the east. Can it be? No, it couldn't, it has been seven years now. Yet his olfactory senses have never betrayed him and in the air, it is unmistakable, is a trace of that putrid smell of death and decay that has haunted him in his dreams for so long now. That stench, he knows, can come from only one being, a force of monstrous proportions. There is no time to waste. The necessary precautions have to be made. He solemnly turns to his youngun: "Son, get the garlic and the wooden stakes.
Amorphati is back."
